BMW unveils M3 Competition Edition Frozen Silver

With the coupe and convertible variants of the current 3-Series soon to follow in the footsteps of the sedan and bow out in favor of the new F30-generation car, BMW has decided it’s high time for a special edition to commemorate the outgoing M3.

As the M3 is already a supremely capable performance car, BMW chose to focus on aesthetic upgrades such as a unique Frozen Silver paint job with a “rare metallic luster.” Offsetting the frosty hue are hood vents, chrome trim, grilles, and exhaust tips rendered in black, while the 19-inch M3 GTS wheels also get a stygian treatment.

Inside, the car receives black leather upholstery with silver accent stitching, a grippy, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and an “M Power” logo on the handbrake. Other special touches include carbon fiber trim for the dashboard and center console along with M3 checkered flag emblems on the steering wheel and door sill plates.

The M3?s optional Competition Package is fitted as standard on the Competition Edition Frozen Silver: it lowers the suspension by 0.4 inches, adds Electronic Damping Control and includes a more hooligan-friendly stability control control setting. Those seeking a manual transmission-equipped M3 will have to look elsewhere, as the car will come solely with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Only 40 examples of the M3 Competition Edition Frozen Silver will grace U.S. roadways. Each will command a roughly $10,000 premium over a similarly-spec’d “normal” M3, for a total of $81,060. [via : Leftlane]
