Nissan 370Z Roadster

The first and possibly most important thing you need to know about the new 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster is that Nissan knew it'd be building a convertible from day one.

The 370Z Roadster has a convertible soft top that can be lowered and raised by a single touch using either the door handles or a switch on the center console. The standard black cloth top features a fabric liner that looks good and helps keep unwanted wind noise out of the cabin. It takes about 20 seconds for the top to complete its cycle.

Nissan made some key changes to the 370Z's chassis, reinforcing the body structure to reduce the torsional bending associated with most convertibles. The A-pillars and side sills have also been beefed up to also help the structure. This helps allow the 370Z Roadster to retain the coupe's excellent handling characteristics, making this 2-seater nearly as much fun to drive hard as its coupe brother.

You still get the 3.7-liter 24-valve V-6 that produces 332 bhp at 7000 rpm and 270 lb.-ft. of torque at 5200. Because the car weighs just over a hundred pounds more than the coupe, it'll be a half-step slower getting to 60 mph and the quarter-mile. Nevertheless, it'll still be very quick, and we can't wait to verify that when we get our hands on the new Nissan in a few months.
