Significant Features of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco

The Chevrolet Malibu is probably one of the most successful Chevrolet models for the past decade. This is because the Malibu offers a wide range of exciting features that buyers would surely enjoy. In addition to this, the Malibu is considered as one of the best in its segment in terms of physical appearance, fuel economy, and performance.

But despite of this positive image, General Motors is not yet satisfied with what the Malibu has accomplished so far since most of closest competitors such as the Hyundai Sonata and the Toyota Camry are currently improving their features. In fact, Hyundai and Toyota have been using hybrid technologies for such models to boost their fuel economies. To handle the stiffer competition posed by the Sonata and Camry Hybrid, General Motors started the production of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco with a number of significant features to offer such as the following.

eAssist Technology

The 2012 Chevrolet Malibu will be using General Motors' "mild hybrid" technology popularly known as the "eAssist". The eAssist technology makes use of an air-cooled lithium-ion battery and a brushless 15-kW electric motor. The electric motor and the lithium-ion battery are responsible for providing the needed power of some of the vehicle's equipments such as the air-conditioning and the in-car entertainment system particularly when the car is in idle mode.

Due to this function, the eAssist technology helps the engine in providing power to the vehicle and its assistance allows the Malibu Eco to earn to reduce its fuel consumption by 25%. By using the eAssist technology, the Malibu Eco is expected to have the estimated fuel economy ratings of 25 miles per gallon in the city, 37 miles per gallon on the highway, and 29 miles per gallon combined.

New Platform and Exterior Features

Aside from using the eAssist technology, the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco is also using the latest Epsilon world-platform and this makes the vehicle more stable and attractive. In fact, a lot of Chevrolet designers and engineers agree that the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco is so far the better looking design of the Malibu.

Acoording to several reviews conducted on this model, the car at some angle looks like the Chevrolet Camaro. Other car experts who were able to take a closer look at the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco have also stressed-out that the vehicle's strong shoulders that separate its front and rear fenders is quite similar to several Cadillac models. However, some of the exterior features that the 2013 Malibu Eco have inherited from its predecessor were still able to provide it with significant the resemblance to the iconic Malibu that most buyers came to love.

Improved Noise-reduction Technology

To further improve the driving comfort provided by the Malibu, General Motors has also upgraded the noise-reduction technology installed on the vehicle. The engineers that were involved in developing this model used the so-called "Thinsulate" sound-absorption materials and underbody baffles to keep the noise level produced by the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco at lower levels. As a result, the Malibu Eco is currently considered as the quietest model from Chevrolet.
