2011 Acura TSX Specs, Prices, Pics and Reviews

Sedans don't have to be boring, and the 2011 Acura TSX proves it with its sleek looks and powerful engine.

I enjoyed the youthful feeling the TSX gave me when behind the wheel, but admittedly, that was only when it was just my daughter and I tooling around Los Angeles. When we added my husband into the mix, it became obvious that the TSX can be a tight fit for some families.

It was an unpleasant surprise that the TSX couldn't comfortably fit my family. It is a sedan after all, but with the TSX's sportiness comes tightness in both the front and back seats; it's kind of like a sweater that shrunk a little in the dryer. To accommodate those rear-facing safety seats for the little ones, things in the front get pretty, ahem squishy. Any space in the backseat suddenly vanishes and the glove box starts to appear as if it's protruding much farther into the cabin. Then you find your shorter-than-average adult passenger has their knees jammed into the dash. Needless to say, with more on board than me and my daughter in her infant seat in the back, things started getting claustrophobic. This car would work well once my daughter is in a forward-facing car seat, but that's a long way away for my family.

This is a great car to drive on errands, but if you've got a weekend of family fun planned, the TSX probably won't be the most comfortable for everyone or the most practical.

This sporty number felt nimble on the road, and it was fuel efficient enough to keep me away from the gas station. I drove the four-cylinder model (a more powerful V-6 engine is also available) and it always felt peppy and responsive. It could turn on a dime and hug corners with ease, but the car always felt controlled and comfortable. The driving experience proves that the TSX is definitely not your mom's sedan. Open the sunroof, turn on the satellite radio and you'll feel like taking the scenic route to Gymboree.

The TSX starts at $29,610. My test car had the optional Technology Package, which increased the as-tested price to $33,570.

EXTERIOR

The TSX is definitely stylish, and it looks good without trying too hard. It has a sculpted look, but it's not too bulky or bloated. This five-seater seems to walk a balanced line between feminine and masculine style; it's a car that either Mom or Dad would look good in when behind the wheel.

Being a sedan, it's easy to get in and out of because the doors aren't heavy and it has a low step-in height. The only trouble I had with the TSX was when I loaded my daughter's rear-facing infant seat into the backseat. The car sits low, which is noticeable while driving, and I almost knocked myself out once or twice when I didn't bend down enough to get the car seat inside. I suppose for those who don't mind a little suffering in the name of style, it won't matter a bit.

The TSX's sizable trunk is impressive. The number of things I need to bring with me on a daily basis since having a baby is staggering and knowing I would be test-driving a sedan had me a little concerned. But the TSX just kept taking everything I was putting into it, and I dare say I had more room back there than I do in my own crossover. Who knew this sporty little sedan could also act as pack mule, too?

The TSX has a 201-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but my car had the optional five-speed automatic. The sedan runs on premium gas and gets an EPA-estimated 21/29 mpg city/highway. This was right on par as I averaged about 24 mpg during the week of my test drive. The gas tank seemed bottomless with its 18.5-gallon capacity. I drove this car everywhere and never had to fill up.

SENSE AND STYLE

Family Friendly (Not Really, Fair, Great, Excellent): Fair
Fun-Factor (None, Some, Good Times, Groove-On): Good Times

INTERIOR

The TSX's interior is sophisticated without being stuffy. There's nothing too trendy or offensive about it; it's just a clean, classic look akin to a fabulous (and flattering) little black dress.

The black-colored perforated leather seats with contrast stitching add to the TSX's youthful feel, and front seats come standard with heaters. The metallic-looking trim is always a welcome alternative to faux wood trim. A prominent knob is located in the middle of the stack and controls many of the audio, phone and navigation functions. This helps to streamline the controls and keep things from appearing cluttered. Learn More...

Acura MDX Specs, Pics, Prices and Reviews

With Acura’s upcoming 2010 ZDX crossover-coupe-whatever setting the tone for the brand in terms of refinement and technology, its once techno-trendsetting MDX sibling is looking a bit long in the tooth.

 Base Price: $43,815 - $55,340

Indeed, the second-gen MDX—which placed first of eight in our last shootout of $50,000 SUVs—has sat relatively unchanged since its 2007 debut, and this fact, combined with a number of newly engineered goodies also used in the ZDX, makes this year the perfect time for an update.

Six Gears and a Better Ride. Perhaps the most notable upgrade is Acura’s first-ever six-speed automatic transmission in place of the previous five-speed. The transmission will proliferate through the company’s V-6 models, with the ZDX, in which the gearbox was first shown, being the next Acura to market so equipped. The company says the new gearbox also will work with four-cylinder vehicles such as the RDX and base TSX.

Unfortunately, many other luxury carmakers already are moving on to seven- and eight-speed units, and the six-speed doesn’t improve fuel economy much in the MDX, which is now estimated at a still-thirsty 16 city mpg and 21 highway mpg versus 15/20 in 2009. The transmission shifts quickly and smoothly, and its ability to perform multiple-gear downshifts nicely augments the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system during sporty driving. The gearbox’s standard and sport modes are selected via the console-mounted shifter, and all trim levels get steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters as standard.

Also new are retuned active dampers that come as part of the Advance package, which takes the place of last year’s Sport package. Despite the MDX’s handling prowess and all-wheel-drive grip, we’ve criticized its ride for being a bit harsh and unyielding, particularly in the sportiest suspension setting. And although it remains firm, our brief jaunt north of Detroit revealed the new version to be far more compliant in both sport and comfort settings while maintaining good body control.

The 300-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 has been retuned for more flexible power delivery, while nineteen-inch wheels are now a factory option; 18-inchers remain standard, although they’re now lighter than before and have a new design. All of this serves to bolster the MDX’s already surprising agility, but we were taken aback by the ultra-light steering—at all speeds—that felt much more artificial and over-boosted than we remember.

Acura MDX shines with its powerful V6 engine

with its seating for seven and space for three car seats, the MDX makes a strong case for itself as a family vehicle. Consumer Guide says the MDX “has contemporary styling and thoughtful features. MDX has a highly desirable blend of luxury, performance, and convenience.” Most car reviewers wholeheartedly second that take.

In case you are buying a car like the Acura MDX, the last may be a very affordable price. This is because this vehicle is basically a mid-sized SUV. By concentrating on three main factors again, you can minimize the amount you will be entitled to pay every year for the Acura MDX insurance. The first one is the ratings provided for the car. There are many authorized organizations which conduct crash tests and publish reports on the car performance.

Additionally, the performance of aftermarket spare parts is inconsistent at best. Thus, it may be a good idea to invest in the original equipment manufacturer parts since they are superior in quality and, in most cases, have a warranty by your car manufacturer.
In addition to spare parts, car accessories and performance parts are also available for Acura MDX. These include but are not limited to;

Whenever you buy a car, there are three factors that you need to consider apart from the main criterion - the cost of the car. They are fuel costs (check the engine performance and mileage provided by the car and review the fuel prices), regular maintenance expenses (this of course greatly depends on your driving habits) and finally the insurance costs.

2011 The Acura-TSX Sport-Wagon

The four cylinder engine in the automobile is very similar to the 2009 model. The 201 horsepower engine is slightly less powerful than the 2008 model engine, which produced 205 horsepower. Before 2010, Acura TSX purchasers did not have the option of a V6 engine.

Two different engine choices are available, a more subdued four cylinder engine and a more powerful six cylinder version. The V4 engine is a 2.4 Liter with 201 HP while the V6 puts out 280 hp and 254 lb feet of torque. The V4 engine gets 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the freeway while the V6 receives 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the freeway. The V6 is pretty fast and goes from 0-60 in just 5.9 seconds.

Detail Review The 2011 Acura TSX V6

Acura is well renowned for producing premium vehicles with an athletic flair and the TSX is no different. 2010 will be the first time that the TSX will be available on the market with a more robust six cylinder engine. On top of that, it received a slight makeover with a revamped front grille and it's better looking than ever. The front fenders and xenon headlights serve to enhance the car's aggressive and fearless looks. This vehicle comes in two trims; the TSX base model and the TSX V6. The base model comes with 17" alloy wheels while the V6 sports a bolder set of 18" wheels. The TSX is a compact vehicle that includes a myriad of premium amenities and value for its price.

For those people looking for more push out of their vehicle, a V6 engine is available. The TSX V6 engine is a 3.5 liter VTEC engine which produces 280 horsepower. The V6 engine also produces 254 pound feet of torque. Considering the power of the 2010 vehicle, it gets surprisingly good fuel efficiency. In the city, the TSX V6 gets 18 miles per gallon. On the highway it gets 27 miles per gallon. Unlike the four cylinder engine option, the TSX V6 is only available with the five speed automatic transmission.

Acura NSX Sports Car

Acura NSX Sports CarAcura NSX Sports Car

Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept bears all the necessary design elements of a proper sports car: sharp, aggressive edges, a low and wide silhouette, a slightly phallic side profile, and of course, a rear window that stands somewhere between hardly usable and nonexistent.

New Acura NSX powered by V10 engine , that will surely upset NSX lovers who brag of that car’s mid-engine layout. A new version of Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) will favor the rear wheels to keep enthusiasts happy, but the front wheels go into action when the first inevitable four-wheel power slide happens. The ASCC rides on a 108.8-inch wheelbase with an overall length of 181.5 inches, and was designed by Acura’s L.A.-based American design team. We must say, they’ve done a much better job here than with the sedan concept shown at the 2006 Los Angeles show. No word on when Acura’s next sports car will go into production, but it won’t been soon enough.
