2011 Porsche Cayman R Sports Car

As seen in the 2010 LA Auto Show, Porsche introduced to the world its 2011 Porsche Cayman R. The limited release Cayman is apparently a “direct descendant of the famous 1950's 550 and 1960's 904 mid-engined, high-performance Coupes.”

Power arises from 3.7L 6-cylinder Direct Fuel Injection boxer engine located in the Cayman S but was enhanced to generate an extra 10 horses for a total of 330-hp. 0-60 mph comes in 4.7 second when mated to a 6-speed manual and 4.4 when mated to a dual-clutch PDK transmission and the Port Chrono Package. The top speed for the Cayman R measures at 175 mph with a 6-speed manual and 174 mph with the PDK.

The Porsche alphabet uses the letter R for very special sports cars: R for responsive and refined - but particularly for racy. The new Cayman R offers all of these characteristics with no compromise. 55 kilograms (121 lb) lighter along with ten horsepower on top of the Cayman S, the newest mid-engine coupe from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is created for breathtaking road practices. Featuring a exclusively designed sports chassis, it offers an even more adequate driving experience than the Cayman S.

The new Porsche Cayman R is on sale from February 2011. The purchase price in Germany will be EUR 69,830 including 19 percent VAT and country-specific equipment items.

2010 Mazda 6

The 2010 Mazda 6 i versions are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the i SV, i Sport and i Touring. A five-speed automatic with manual shift control is the only choice available on i Touring Plus and i Grand Touring models and an available option on i Sport and i Touring versions.

The 2010 Mazda 6 sports an attractive and modern cockpit. Controls are a bit more complicated than those of competitors, but they reside in a gracefully arching center stack that sweeps from the top of the dash to the center console. Other interior features like the red backlit gauges and roomy backseat (even for 6-footers) also gain our praise. Legroom and headroom are plentiful in all seats, but the wide front seats may lack lateral support for narrower occupants.

Maserati Pininfarina 75th Birdcage Concept

Maserati Pininfarina 75th Birdcage ConceptMaserati Pininfarina 75th Birdcage Concept

This new creation is based on Maserati's rich heritage, its most advanced mechanics and is realized in collaboration with Motorola.

Pininfarina revives the historical theme of the true dream car in a synthesis of the vision of the three companies, the vision being to combine exclusive design, sports DNA and technological innovation. The prototype is called the 75th Birdcage.

Pininfarina's prosperous collaboration with Maserati, marked by the great international success of the Quattroporte, is celebrated with this rolling hi-tech sculpture that evokes a new future context, imaginary but possible, while simultaneously paying homage to the strong and distinctive brand characteristics of the Trident.

The integration of Motorola's technology in the car realizes the seamless mobility concept.

The car itself becomes an intelligent moving network, able to interact with its passengers and keep them constantly and seamlessly connected to all the aspects of their lives.

Lamborghini Concept S

Lamborghini Concept SLamborghini Concept S

Lamborghini Concept S concept car was perhaps one of the most awaited sports supercars at the Geneva Motor Show a few years back. Everyone had their expectations high thanks to the Lamborghini tradition of producing sports cars and supercars and they were not disappointed. Lamborghini stole their hearts and stole the show eventually with the introduction of Lambirghini Concept S. It is a concept car designed by the Head of Design at Lamborghini, Luc Donckerwolke. He considers this sports car an embodiment of the open car concept. He got a few awards for this supercar when it got introduced.

The sports car as such is great looking and has been modeled like the classic single-seated racing cars of the yesteryears. The traditional windscreen has been replaced by a 'sauté-vent,' which happens to be the French term for change wind. It goes on to divide the interior of the super sports car into two sections, giving it a slick yet aggressive look. It is so strategically placed that in addition to giving an awesome look, it also serves as an air inlet for the mounted engine which is placed behind the seats. There is an electronically operated rearview mirror which is mounted in the middle of two cockpits. It can be used by the driver when he wants and can be hidden when not used. The body of Lamborghini Concept S supercar is designed aerodynamically and it makes it more efficient.

Audi S8

Audi S8Audi S8

The Audi S8 is this German automaker's flagship performance sedan, but it has only been sold sporadically. Debuting at the start of the new millennium, it was the third vehicle for the North American market to bear an "S" badge. Used to showcase Audi's performance engineering, S- and RS-badged vehicles compete directly against other automakers' performance models from divisions like BMW's M and Mercedes-Benz's AMG. As a high-luxury, high-performance and high-tech platform, the S8 is the standard-bearer in Audi's arsenal.

There are two generations of the S8 and each has been based on the A8 luxury sedan from the same time period. Building on the A8's lightweight aluminum-frame chassis, the S8 adds a more powerful engine, a sport-tuned suspension, more powerful brakes and a slightly more aggressive look. Despite being Audi's largest sedan, its combination of a relatively light curb weight, muscular power and the tenacious grip of the car's standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system makes it surprisingly quick and agile. Audi's Quattro system is a key advantage over the S8's competitors as it provides more traction, especially in inclement weather conditions.

Alfa Romeo 147, Sports Hatchback

Alfa Romeo 147, Sports HatchbackAlfa Romeo 147, Sports Hatchback

Alfa Romeo has a reputation for building stylish cars with plenty of sporting character. In the fading years of the 20th century, however, the wonderful character was often marred by less than acceptable build quality. Fiat taking over the reins of the famous marquee seems to have fixed most of the old problems without destroying the traditional flair, if the crop of Alfa Romeo beauties launched here since 1998 are any indication.

The Alfa Romeo 147 compact hatch arrived in Australia in 2002 with style and good looks that raise it above less inspired models. On appearance alone the baby Alfa, with its cute retro nose and sensuous shape, is a standout. Alfa Romeo's 147 range consists of 3-dr and 5-dr models, all with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, twinspark engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or semi-automatic Selespeed gearbox. Pricing in August 2003 stretched from $38,500 to $42,500.

Alfa Romeo's Australian importer -- Ateco Automotive -- launched the rip-snorting 147 GTA onto the market in August 2003. It gets big daddy 156 GTA's fire-breathing 3.2-litre engine, a six-speed manual gearbox and bucketloads of aggression. At $59,990, this hyper-charged hot hatch is about as affordable as European prestige performance gets.

Acura NSX Sports Car

Acura NSX Sports CarAcura NSX Sports Car

Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept bears all the necessary design elements of a proper sports car: sharp, aggressive edges, a low and wide silhouette, a slightly phallic side profile, and of course, a rear window that stands somewhere between hardly usable and nonexistent.

New Acura NSX powered by V10 engine , that will surely upset NSX lovers who brag of that car’s mid-engine layout. A new version of Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) will favor the rear wheels to keep enthusiasts happy, but the front wheels go into action when the first inevitable four-wheel power slide happens. The ASCC rides on a 108.8-inch wheelbase with an overall length of 181.5 inches, and was designed by Acura’s L.A.-based American design team. We must say, they’ve done a much better job here than with the sedan concept shown at the 2006 Los Angeles show. No word on when Acura’s next sports car will go into production, but it won’t been soon enough.
