2011 Porsche Cayman R Sports Car

As seen in the 2010 LA Auto Show, Porsche introduced to the world its 2011 Porsche Cayman R. The limited release Cayman is apparently a “direct descendant of the famous 1950's 550 and 1960's 904 mid-engined, high-performance Coupes.”

Power arises from 3.7L 6-cylinder Direct Fuel Injection boxer engine located in the Cayman S but was enhanced to generate an extra 10 horses for a total of 330-hp. 0-60 mph comes in 4.7 second when mated to a 6-speed manual and 4.4 when mated to a dual-clutch PDK transmission and the Port Chrono Package. The top speed for the Cayman R measures at 175 mph with a 6-speed manual and 174 mph with the PDK.

The Porsche alphabet uses the letter R for very special sports cars: R for responsive and refined - but particularly for racy. The new Cayman R offers all of these characteristics with no compromise. 55 kilograms (121 lb) lighter along with ten horsepower on top of the Cayman S, the newest mid-engine coupe from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is created for breathtaking road practices. Featuring a exclusively designed sports chassis, it offers an even more adequate driving experience than the Cayman S.

The new Porsche Cayman R is on sale from February 2011. The purchase price in Germany will be EUR 69,830 including 19 percent VAT and country-specific equipment items.
