2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Specs and Reviews

The all-new Range Rover Evoque marks a shift of sorts for Land Rover. The automaker is known primarily in the U.S. for building boxy, capable SUVs,

but the Evoque is a decidedly sportier and sleeker luxury crossover aimed at models like the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60. Offered in two- and four-door body styles, the Evoque hits dealerships in fall 2011.

Exterior
The new Evoque looks quite a bit like Land Rover's LRX concept from a few years ago. It's an athletic-looking crossover that has quite a bit of presence despite its relatively small footprint.

The Evoque is wide and low-slung — something many Land Rovers aren't —but its front-end styling still makes it instantly recognizable as a Land Rover. Available exterior features include:
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Xenon adaptive headlights
  • Power liftgate
  • Heated windshield
  • 20-inch wheels
  • Contrasting roof colors

Interior
Like in Land Rover's high-dollar Range Rover, the design of the Evoque's center console gives the impression that it's extending into the upper reaches of the dashboard. Premium materials are used, and there's a twist-knob gear selector instead of a traditional shifter. Available interior features include:

  • 8-inch touch-screen
  • Navigation system
  • Dual-zone automatic air conditioning
  • Premium Meridian audio system
  • Surround Camera System with five cameras

Under the Hood
The Evoque is powered by a 240-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that teams with a six-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the road through a permanent all-wheel-drive system, and Land Rover's Terrain Response technology provides enhanced off-road capability.

Safety
Safety features include:
  • Antilock brakes
  • Electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control
  • Corner Brake Control for greater braking stability when cornering
  • Side-impact and side curtain airbags
  • Front knee airbags
