Official images of Fiat’s all-new generation Palio have been released. Late last month, the model was introduced to a group of dealers. It was in 1977 that the Palio badge was first presented. Back then, it had only been a trim designation. But 1997 was a very successful year for the hatch in Brazil. Since it debuted, Fiat had sold 2.5 million units. It was given a facelift in 2007. The latest version of the car was totally reworked together with the other Fiat models by Italy’s Centro Stile Fiat. The model looks a bit like an enhanced Grande Punto and its engine lineup includes four units that range from 1.0- to 1.6-liters.
The Fiat Uno has also used the 1.0 EVO engine. It has an output of 73 hp and 95 Nm of torque. The 1.4-liter EVO, which is derived from the new 500, offers 85 hp when the vehicle runs on petrol and 88 hp when it’s on ethanol. The version that’s expected to be popular is the 1.6-liter Palio Sport with a 16-valve engine, black surrounds, stylish body decals, gills on the side, dual barrel exhaust pipes, a blacked out spoiler and some outstanding alloy wheels.
The Essence model can be equipped with the 1.6-liter 16v E.torQ Flex. It could deliver 115hp on gasoline. But on ethanol fuel, it delivers 117hp. In addition, it has been fitted with lateral and frontal airbags, as well as ABS brakes, leather steering wheel with radio controls, gear-shift butterfly-type switch on the wheel, twilight and rain sensors, cruise control, windshield heater, CD player with MP3 and iPod/USB inputs, fog lamps, rear hatch Logo push, switchblade key with remote control, etc. [via : 4wheelsnews]
